Whole Slice Pizza is situated close to the Mercado shopping area, which is surrounded by various eateries and charming shops. We worked up quite the appetite wandering the morning away and happened to come upon Whole Slice Pizza.
When we approached the walk-up style counter at, a very friendly lady named Mango warmly greeted us and happily took our order. We get thrilled when we discover places that offer sauces made from scratch, vegan and gluten-free options, and all crafted with wholesome ingredients. Their New York-style pizzas are freshly prepared and waiting for you to order. The sourdough pizza crust is absolute perfection and expertly cooked right before your eyes.
They are quite generous with the slices, priced at $6.50 each, and you can also order a whole pizza for approximately $30.00. It's well worth it! We each ordered a slice of the vegan pizza and shared a salad. The kale salad with cashew cream dressing is fantastic! It included artichoke hearts, Kalamata olives, and sundried tomatoes as toppings. For meat lovers, they have pepperoni, salami, sausage and they all looked enticing. We enjoyed our meal in their Spanish-style courtyard that offers comfortable seats and shade.
In our short time visiting Tucson, we visited this hidden deliciousness twice! I loved how friendly and welcome they made you feel, even the pizza chef came out to greet us.
Next time, we'll visit their second location, Falora, which offers a more extensive pizza menu, various salad options, and indoor seating. Of course, we'll also keep returning to Whole Slice pizza again and again and again...
