Having heard so much about this trail from the locals, we were eager to explore another picturesque paved trail.

We were very fortunate that the beginning of the trail started right at our campground, Thunderbird RV Park. The 17.4 mile or 28 km loop trail followed the Straight of Georgia on the oceanside route along the Island Highway 19A.

Along this oceanside route are beautiful parks with amazing wood carvings, which are displayed at every scenic view point. There are piers to stop at and possibly view humpback whales, dolphins, seals and lots of bald eagles. Bring your bike or vehicle onto the ferry for a short 10-minute trip to Quadra Island—it's definitely worth it. However, Quadra Island is another whole day of future exploration! We spent most of a full day just exploring along the Greenways Loop waterway.

The second day, we continued the ride into the Beaver Lodge Forest Lands extensive multi tail system. Home to a complex network of dense forest ecosystems and a variety of wildlife and even beaver ponds! We didn't get to see a beaver this time but there were signs of beaver life everywhere.

This section of the trail felt like traveling through hobbit land, with its dark and mysterious atmosphere. Also, If you enjoy Geocaching like we do, this is an excellent area to explore.

We returned several more times riding and hiking this super fun trail. Lots of great memories!

Cheers!
