A mere ten miles from our house is one of our favorite paved bike trails. From porcupines sleeping in aspen trees, to large herds of elk grazing near the horse stables are 34 miles of scenic paved bike and walking paths along the Deschutes River. Airplanes take off from the small airport, tourists rent kayaks and rafts to float the Deschutes on the way to Benham Falls. If you don't have a bike no problem you can rent one from 6 different bike shops seasonally.
Its always fun to watch the golfers play on any of the three 18 courses. We have golfed there and found it challenging for our golf skill level, but so much fun.
If you are like us and need a break, stop by the Sunriver village for shopping, dining and of course there is Goodys for Jeff's favorite, Ice Cream
There are numerous places to find parking if you are bringing your own bikes. We like to park at a large parking lot at Fort Rock Park and pop right on the trail, or you can also park at the Sunriver village.
No matter what you decide to do Sunriver is lots of fun meandering through the beautiful homes and the ponderosa pine forest along the spectacular Deschutes river.
A super popular paved trail that is beautiful to ride spring, summer and fall.
